Advising at WVC

At WVC, faculty advisors, college navigators, and counselors help you pursue your educational goals. College navigators help new and transfer-in students get started with their first quarter of classes at WVC. After that, you will begin working with your faculty advisor for ongoing advising help. If you are a former student, you can meet directly with their faculty advisor.

Enrollment and Planning

After your placement has been determined, college navigators will help you sign up for a required online advising and registration (OAR) tutorial. After you have completed the OAR, you can schedule an appointment with a college navigator.

College navigators will help you interpret your placement results and recommend appropriate classes. They also assist with academic planning, course selection, and understanding the requirements of a specific program. College navigators can refer you, as needed, to counseling services for educational, personal, or emotional difficulties.

Faculty Advising

New students are assigned to a faculty advisor at the beginning of the quarter that they first enroll.

Faculty advisors will help you with academic planning, course selection, and scheduling; developing, clarifying, and evaluating your educational plans and goals; and providing transfer information for in-state colleges and universities. They can also help you gain an understanding of program requirements.

Counseling

WVC Counselors  are here to help you by offering a safe, confidential place where you can explore your concerns and discover new strength, insights and ways of coping. These services are free and confidential. Counseling services are available on the Wenatchee and Omak campuses.

Your Role

Being proactive to maximize the advising process will provide a solid foundation for your educational experience. Advising is a shared responsibility, and builds on the strengths of the faculty advisor and your willingness to be involved.

Make sure you read the student policies, have your transcripts evaluated, set and keep quarterly advising appointments with your faculty advisor, develop an educational plan, know important academic deadlines and dates, and learn the transfer requirements and the institution you plan to transfer to.
