Business is the driving force behind economic growth and decision-making across the globe. To succeed in the competitive world of today and tomorrow, people in all fields can benefit from an understanding of the strategies and practices that govern free enterprise. The business programs at WVC have been thoughtfully designed by experts and business leaders to educate students using current and relevant methodologies to help you achieve goals.  

Academic Pathways

Certificate of Completion

Meant to be completed in one year, this certificate provides an overview of several business concepts and incorporates classes on computer applications and programs to ensure proficiency.

Associate of Applied Science- Business (AAS-Business)

This is a two-year general business degree that is not meant to transfer to a university, though many of the courses in this degree transfer to baccalaureate institutions.

Associates of Arts (AA-DTA)

This is a two-year degree designed to transfer into any of the Washington state public universities

 

Learning Outcomes 

Students who complete the General Business AAS degree will be prepared to: 

  • Use and apply business concepts in real-life situations 
  • Use their training and education to seek employment or advance in current employment in business-related fields 
  • Know current practices, principles, and strategies used in business and/or accounting. 
  • Develop a foundation for continued studies towards a transfer degree in business. 


Students who complete the Business Transfer (AA-DTA) degree will be prepared to: 

  • Transfer to a four-year university in Washington and enter the business program or related field with all preadmission requirements completed. 
  • Continue studying business successfully at a four-year school with required knowledge, competence, and skills necessary to be successful. 
  • Solve problems using basic business concepts  
  • Successfully read, write, and communicate using business language and terminology. 

Career Paths 

Business graduates can pursue careers in general business, management, marketing, human resources, and other fields. Opportunities are available in the private sector, non-profit organizations, or in government agencies. WVC Business graduates can be found working in and leading a variety of organizations throughout the region and beyond.
