700.110 ELECTRONIC MESSAGING POLICY
A. DEFINITION
Electronic messaging: includes, but is not limited to, electronic mail (e-mail) systems which store and
transmit typed communications, voicemail systems which store and transmit voice communications,
facsimile and imaging equipment which stores and transmits images, transmission of
messages over the Internet, and other systems where images, audio, or text are stored
in electronic format.
B. PURPOSE FOR USE
College messaging services may only be used for college related purposes. Any matter
created, received, or stored in or sent from college electronic messaging systems
is the property of the college. [RCW Chapter 42.52]
C. SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
The college will attempt to provide electronic messaging systems that provide confidentiality
and safeguards against unauthorized access and other security violations, in line
with WVC privacy policy 700.200.
